March Degustabox

It's the Degustabox Easter special and boy did I get a treat!

Just a quick description for anybody who doesn't actually know what Degustabox is...it's a monthly subscription food box and each month is completely different and a total surprise. You never know what you're getting.

Also I have a discount code at the end of this post which means you can get it super cheap!

As you all know by now I always get very excited waiting for my Degustabox and this months did not disappoint! Each month has been completely different and when I was trying to guess what this months would be like I was pretty spot on.

With it soon to be Easter I figured it would be aimed at people with a sweet tooth.
People like me *smug face*

So let's get straight into it shall we?

Pipers Crisps

This was something both Elliot and I were excited to try. I really like Tyrells cider crisps so I figured these would be very similar and they were! Except the texture was more like Walkers crisps so it was a really nice in-between.

I really enjoyed them and they were incredibly moreish. Elliot had to stop himself from eating them all while I was at work. Out of the whole box this was Elliot's favourite item.

Pipers crisps are crisps made by farmers.
The crisps are made with old English cider apples that are home grown in Julian Temperleys beautiful orchards at Burrow Hill near Kingsbury Episcopi in Somerset.

If we were to see these in a shop we would definitely pop these in our basket! I would actually go as far to say that I prefer these to Tyrells! There's a sentence I never thought I'd say.

Naturelly

I have actually worked with Naturelly previously and so I have already tried their products before.
I have a whole very detailed review written which you can read by clicking here!

But if you don't want to read through all that just know that Naturelly is a very healthy natural jelly juice which is suitable for kids and adults too! I really liked it, love the texture, love the flavour and they can even be frozen to make ice pops! A really great healthy alternative for your children.

Cadburys Dairy Milk Oreo

This arrived in two flavours. Mint and Peanut Butter.
This was perfect because Elliot likes peanut butter and I like mint.

I'm not a huge fan of peanut butter and so I only tried one square, not a fan but the mint one was lovely. I'm actually eating the last of it whilst writing this blog post.

The Dairy Milk chocolate is still the same old legendary chocolate it has been and with the added crunch of Oreo it makes for an interesting texture. Adds a little something I guess.
The mint reminded me of Aero bubbles which I like a lot.

Chocolate was the perfect addition to this months Degustabox. After all what is Easter without chocolate? I know it's all about Jesus and chocolate is taking away the true meaning of Easter but come on. We like chocolate, and if we can have a holiday to celebrate that then let us have this!!

Weetabix On The Go

These were my favourite items in the box (you got two) and they actually proved to be very useful for me!
I am notorious for waking up late so if I'm working a day shift which is only once a week, sometimes I have to skip breakfast because I'm running late for work.

The first one was a vanilla drink which I thought tasted just like a really lovely vanilla milkshake. Yet it didn't taste like it was a super healthy good-for-you drink.
It has all the protein, energy and fibre that you would get in a bowl of Weetabix cereal with milk.
It is packed with vitamins, iron and calcium and has no artificial colours, flavours, preservatives or sweeteners.

So basically its breakfast in a bottle. So perfect, easy to have on my way to work, no prep involved, just open the lid and you are good to go!

The second was absolutely gorgeous. Blueberry and blackberry and it tasted like a yogurt drink but the texture of a milkshake. It was so yummy and sweet but not too sickly for a first morning drink.

This one was high in protein and I have been told by the docs that I need a high protein diet and it's really been working for me in my weight gain journey. I'e actually gained half a stone since January so I'm very proud of myself.
So things that are full of protein immediately appeal to me at the moment.
I'm a huge fan of blueberries too, I do love a good superfood.

It has all the same perks as the other drink but this one is a bit higher in protein.

Whitworths Full of Super Cacoa Raw Bars

Elliot and I had one each and both said the exact same thing.
They taste like flapjacks! You can tell they are healthy but not so healthy that they taste bad?
I feel like even the fussiest of eaters could eat these with ease.

They are raw cacao bars (not to be confused with cocoa, although they taste very similar) and they are crammed with almonds, seeds, chia, quinoa and acai which are all ingredients I have been obsessed with this year.

I know those ingredients may sound a little daunting to somebody who isn't super health conscious but all together they really do just taste like a flapjack!

One other perk from eating these bars is that they are a natural source of thiamin which helps your metabolism.

Rebel Kitchen

I feel as though there were a lot of milk based drinks in this box but this Rebel Kitchen Mylk was a good contender!
I think I liked the flavour of the Weetabix more but the ingredients in this are also healthy and vegan too so this made it even better!

It's completely dairy free, made with coconut milk and cacao! Cacao is becoming more and more popular and I am seeing it everywhere. It might be worth picking some up at your local supermarket as it's a great kitchen cupboard staple. It costs a little more than cocoa powder but it's so much healthier for you and can be used in baking or even smoothies. There are so many recipes to use it in. A great way to slightly alter your diet to make it just that bit healthier.
Chia seeds are a favourite too!

I like that this milkshake is super simple. Literally all that's in it is spring water, organic coconut milk, organic date nectar and organic cacao. You know exactly what's in it. No nasty surprises.

There are no refined sugars, additives or preservatives.
It's organic, vegan, gluten free, nut free, non GMO and super tasty. A really nice healthy substitute for a milkshake. Who said being healthy had to taste bad?

There is beauty in simplicity.

Gusto Organic Lemon Drink

What a lovely little refreshing lemon drink. This is so perfect for summer.
I'm not a fan of lemon drinks usually if I'm honest so this sat in my fridge for quite a few days.
I kept looking at it and thinking nahhhh but then Elliot said 'ooh shall we try this?' and I just went along with it.

It was actually so fresh and not too fizzy which I also dislike in a drink.
I drank it all pretty quickly so it was obviously enjoyable.

And apparently it's packed with botanicals which help with energy and stamina so would be good for when you're having a busy productive day.

Thursdays tend to be my productive day. I always get so much done on a Thursday. Odd.

The Jelly Bean Factory Jelly Beans

I love jelly beans. As a child I despised them but now I can appreciate them in all their glory.
There were 36 flavours and all sooo good. There weren't any I disliked. Cinnamon was an acquired taste though.

I instantly wanted to cry when I saw them though. You might be thinking 'why? you just said you like jelly beans?'

Well my friends, around a year ago we had our pals staying over and we decided to pick up a pack of jelly beans called beanboozled and they were jelly beans but half of them were lovely flavours and the other half were disgusting flavours such as vomit, dog food and mouldy egg.

Its safe to say we've never recovered since and so when I saw the jelly beans I was like oh noooo, thinking it was beanboozled.
Luckily, this pack only contained nice flavours. Elliot and I had a lot of fun trying to guess the flavours. It also caused a fair few mini arguments about whether it was strawberry or raspberry etc.
Something I didn't know about jelly beans is that they are made using natural flavours, no artificial colours and are gelatine free, gluten free and nut free. Perfect for vegetarians.

One Pounders Chocolate Eclairs

I've seen this brand before. You might recognise it because I think it's the brand that you always see in newsagents. You know the little sweet section and they have all the bags like this?

Well these eclairs were just as good as any old Cadburys ones let me assure you of that.
In fact they were better. Easier to eat for a start. The Cadburys eclairs are too hard and pull your teeth out but these chew nicely. Same great flavour too.

One Pounders do a wide variety of different sweets for £1 which you can browse. This is making me hungry.

Westons Caple Rd Cider

I'm not a huge cider drinker. It's something I can drink when I'm already drunk but I wouldn't go out of my way to have cider.
If I do I have it with blackcurrant so my tastebuds haven't quite adjusted to cider yet.

Elliot and I halved the can and had it whilst doing the chores. We had a landlord visit this week so we had to make sure everything was spotless for our inspection. We thought having a drink would make it a bit more bearable.
It didn't work. We didn't get all the cleaning done and decided instead to practice the dirty dancing lift. Something we have spent our whole relationship trying to perfect and yet still have never achieved.

We both thought this cider was quite nice. It was quite strong at first but left a really lovely aftertaste. I couldn't tell you what it was but it tasted different to other ciders. It definitely left you wanting more.

It's a mid-straw to amber colour and double filtered. It's crisp, dry and has a powerful tart finish. It's also matured for 18 months.

Something else I liked about this cider was the packaging. I thought it was quite a cool retro looking can.
And it's suitable for vegetarians, vegans and celiacs!

I would recommend this to cider drinkers.

Westons Pure Hopped Cider

Out of all the Degustaboxes I have never been sent a product I really didn't like.
But this is a big no no for me.

I'm not sure if it's simply because I'm not a fan of cider or if it's just not nice.
Elliot didn't like it either and we actually threw it away after a few sips. It wasn't something I could get used to and we both thought it tasted quite clinical. Like apple antibacterial spray.

Really didn't like it but that doesn't mean somebody else wouldn't.

The packaging is cool though! It shows the little journey it has taken to be made which I think is a really cute idea. Its also suitable for vegetarians. It does also say on the can that it's a citrus flavour and maybe that's why we thought it was a bit...sour?

Maldon Smoked Sea Salt Flakes

Every time we get our Degustabox we always get something that we have JUST stocked up on haha!
We had recently bought these exact flakes. They are sooo good on mash potato.
The salt flakes are gently smoked over oak which adds a rich and sophisticated flavour to any dish.
They could be used in so many recipes!

Heinz Seriously Good Sauce

I love sauces like this in pasta bakes so that's what I decided to use it for and it didn't disappoint. It was really tasty and not too heavy with garlic. It mixed well with the chicken I put in the pasta bake and it's something I am already craving again!

It's a nice smooth creamy texture, no lumpy bits so perfect for fussy eaters.

And that is the contents of this months Degustabox. As you can see it was quite a sweet tooth orientated box this month in time for Easter.
I have a sweet tooth for sure but I've been trying to avoid too much sweet stuff.
I still think my favourite was the first box I received in January which was very healthy and great for vegetarians, vegans and celiacs.

I think they choose the items based on the time of year. In January everyone wants to be healthy for their new years resolutions and February was a good mix and nothing in particular and now this is sweet for Easter. Its a good idea to follow everybody's seasonal eating habits!

If you would be interested in signing up for Degustabox to see what is in the next one you can use my code 'IOKD9' to get it for just £5.99 instead of £12.99.

You usually get around 15 items and it's almost always over £30 worth of food. You get to try new products you wouldn't have thought to buy yourself and it's something to look forward to each month.

Hope you are all enjoying the lead up to Easter and I shall write soon,

Byeeeee
