5 simple habit swaps for a healthier lifestyle

Routines are a way of life for many others; without them we would be lost and unsure in everything we do. However, some of your daily habits may not be the healthiest option for your mental and physical well-being. Truthfully, a number of your day to day habits could be adversely affecting your health. Whether you are eating too many refined sugars, or you aren’t getting a sufficient amount of sleep, all of these things can cause long-term implications to your emotional and physical well-being. With that being said, here are five simple habit swaps that you can incorporate into your life to feel healthier.

  1. Cycle Instead of Drive

Sometimes there is no option but to get into your car and drive to your chosen destination, but could you make an occasional swap? Opting to cycle instead of drive for some of your journeys is not only better for your health, but it has huge benefits to the environment too. With Sunmono your journeys will be even smoother too as you can navigate through traffic and skip public transport for good; a winning situation all around!

  1. Water Instead of Juice

Although it can be very tempting to reach for that third glass of sugary juice, it may not be the best idea for your overall health. Drinking more water is essential for hydration and it will help you to maintain clear skin and good energy levels throughout the day. Invest in a large water bottle that you can carry around with you so you are never caught short!

  1. Whole Grains Instead of White Carbohydrates

White rice and bread are lovely as a treat, but when you are regularly enjoying white carbohydrates your body isn't getting the nourishment it needs to operate effectively. Making the switch to brown rice, seeded bread and whole grain cereals is a healthy and simple swap that you can incorporate into your everyday life.

  1. Fruit Instead of Refined Sugar

When you reach that mid-morning slump at work it is so tempting to take a trip to the local bakery for a chocolate pastry or bag of sweets to perk you up before lunchtime. In reality, this is going to give you an unnecessary sugar rush and it won’t help you to maintain the energy levels you need. Fruit is jam-packed full of fiber and naturally occurring sugars that will help you to stay satisfied for longer; keep a banana, apple or orange in your bag at all times so that you are never stuck for a snack.

  1. Early Nights Instead of Late Nights

Staying up late to watch one more episode of Netflix isn’t always the best idea, especially if your sleep is suffering. Putting your evening routine first and getting a good seven to eight hours sleep will be hugely beneficial to your health in the long run.

It is important to note that these changes may not simply happen overnight, it can take a lot of dedication and hard work to implement them into your current lifestyle. However, once you have started to enjoy your new habits and routines you will never look back to your previous lifestyle again!
